On April 4, Matimex will reflect on architecture and fashion in an event that will provide a multidisciplinary, enriching and critical vision to attendees.

Throughout this day, we will echo the famous phrase of Coco Chanel: «Fashion is like architecture: it is a question of proportions.»

Numerous experts, designers, architects, lovers of culture and fashion will meet at MAE to enjoy the purest essence of architecture and its connection with the art of dressing. The event, divided into two thematic interrelated blocks, will be conducted and moderated by José Antonio Granero, architect, founding partner of CGR architects and Parallel 39.

During the first block we will approach the history of fashion by the hand of Marta Blanco, PhD in Literature and Fashion and fashion consultant. We will listen to Manuel Blanco Lage, architect, director of ETSAM and content director of the Center for Fashion Design in Madrid, one of the most credible voices to expose the interrelation between both disciplines. The morning will close Pepa Bueno, Art Historian and Executive Director of ACME (Association Creators of Fashion of Spain).

We will discover how architecture serves the most prestigious fashion firms. We will see it with Duccio Grassi, founding architect of Duccio Grassi Architects, known for his retail projects with such exclusive clients as Max Mara, Zara or Ray-Ban, among others.

On other occasions, some professionals, attracted in a certain way by this duality, develop their activity in both fields, as is the case of Elena Zapico & Raquel Buj, architects and founders of ZAP & BUJ Fashion and architecture. It is also the case of Amabel García, architect and creative partner of the fashion firm Amabel García. All of them will accompany us in MAE to reveal their experience and their work merging the two modalities.
