Last Thursday, an emotional event was held at the emblematic headquarters of the José Ortega y Gasset Foundation to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Ecomar Foundation. The celebration was attended by prominent political officials, ministers and figures from high places, who gathered to commemorate the history of this organization dedicated to marine conservation.
Since its creation in 1999, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to protect and restore marine ecosystems. Under the leadership of its president, Teresa Zabell, a former Olympic sailing champion, Ecomar has promoted biodiversity and combated pollution. The Foundation's mission focuses on giving back to the sea what it has given to its founder and on educating new generations about the importance of taking care of our oceans.
One of the most special moments of the event was the live artistic intervention by Manila Wall Art in the garden of the building itself. The artists displayed their creativity on two original Bianco Lasa model ceramic canvases with a polished finish from SapienStone, a brand of the Iris Ceramica Group. With skill, they transformed the ceramic surface into a spectacular masterpiece three meters high by three meters wide. The protagonist of this creation, a sea turtle, made mainly with matte ecological plastic paint, captured the attention and hearts of the guests. The canvas was completed at the end of the event, leaving everyone present in awe of the beauty of live art.
Iris Ceramica Group's ceramic surfaces, made with at least 40% pre-consumer recycled material, were perfectly aligned with the sustainability philosophy of the Ecomar Foundation. The work was not only an expression of art but a powerful message of commitment to the environment. Ramón Carneros, commercial director of Iris Ceramica Group of Spain, highlighted the importance of fusing art with sustainability, noting that this collaboration reflects the company's commitment to environmental responsibility.
These pieces of art, loaded with meaning, will find their home at Ecomar's Theresa Zabell School, where they will inspire and educate future generations about the vital importance of protecting our oceans.
The event culminated with a cocktail party on the front lawn, where guests could reflect on the achievements in marine conservation and its positive environmental impact. Guillermo Oviedo, general director of Cupa Stone, the official distributor of SapienStone in Spain, shared his enthusiasm for collaborating in this initiative, underlining his company's commitment to environmental protection.
SapienStone's participation in this charity event not only reflects its commitment to sustainability and art but also its continued dedication to supporting initiatives that create a positive impact on society. This action exemplifies the role that businesses can play by joining forces with non-profit organizations to drive meaningful change and build a more sustainable future for all.
